Longtime Cleveland personality Jeff Kinzbach took to social media on Saturday night to announce he will be retiring from mornings at Rubber City Radio Group Rock 97.5 WONE-FM Akron on Wednesday, September 30.
Kinzbach began his career at 1260 WIXY Cleveland in 1969 and joined 100.7 WMMS in 1973. He and Ed ‘Flash” Ferenc would be teamed in mornings there in 1976 and remain until 1994. The duo then spent a few years in afternoons at 1100 WWWE until exiting in 1997. After leaving radio and moving to Texas, Kinzbach returned to Ohio and began working as a fill-in host at Classic Rock 98.5 WNCX before taking over mornings at WONE-FM alongside Sandra Miller in 2013.
Jeff is a legend in Cleveland and Akron radio. What he and Flash did at WMMS can’t be touched. I also remember hearing his voice in promos on WOIO 19 when it was a Fox affiliate.
Whoever WONE will try to replace in his slot, I will say those are big shoes to fill.
