An old fashioned CHR war in developing in Seattle. With the debut of Jubal Fresh and the revamping of KBKS as “Hits 106.1” on August 20, what has recently been a very one sided lead for Hubbard’s “Movin 92.5” KQMV has very quickly tightened. KBKS rose from a 3.4 to 3.7 share this month while KQMV dropped 5.1 to 4.2 for what Huff notes is its lowest share since Holiday 2012. As recently as the May monthly, KQMV led KBKS 6.2 to 1.9. KBKS was not the only recipient of audience loss from KQMV as Sinclair Hot AC “Star 101.5” KPLZ has trended up 2.9 – 3.3 – 3.9.
iHeartMedia Classic Rock 102.5 KZOK takes the Seattle lead holding steady at a 6.9 share. Bonneville News/Talk 97.3 KIRO-FM falls to second with a 7.1 to 6.4 drop and Entercom Rock 99.9 KISW places third with a 5.7 to 6.0 gain.

Howard University Adult R&B 96.3 WHUR sets what Huff notes is its highest share in almost three years with a 7.2 to 8.2 gain. Cumulus Conservative Talk 105.9 WMAL drops to third with a 7.9 to 8.0 rise, while Public News/Talk 88.5 WAMU falls 7.2 to 6.4 amidst an ongoing staff revolt.
Classical 90.9 WETA-FM Washington is trending upwards moving 4.0 – 4.6 – 5.3 the past three months.
iHeartMedia CHR “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM Boston retakes the market lead with a 6.9 to 7.3 gain. Entercom AC “Magic 106.7” WMJX moves to second with a 6.5 to 6.7 rise. Beasley Classic Hits 105.7 WROR is third up 6.2 to 6.4, while iHeartMedia Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX falls from first to fourth down 7.1 to 6.3.

In its second full monthly following its flip to 90s Hits, “Totally 93.9” WMIA-FM Miami drops 2.7 to 2.4.
It has been a bad month for Rhythmic CHR. Following low numbers for stations like KPWR Los Angeles yesterday, Entercom’s trio of “Power 96” WPOW-FM Miami (2.4 to 1.8), 95.5 WPGC Washington (3.4 to 2.7) and “KS 107.5” KQKS Denver (3.7 to 2.9) all struggled.
iHeartMedia Variety Hits “95.5 The Mountain” KYOT Phoenix retakes the market lead for the fist time since June 2019 with a 5.5 to 6.1 gain. Co-owned AC “99.9 KEZ” KESZ drops to second 6.2 to 6.0, and sister Country 102.5 KNIX places third with a 4.8 to 5.9 gain for what Huff notes is its best showing since September 2018.
Hubbard’s “Oldies 92.7” KAZG Phoenix trends upwards with a 0.9 – 1.4 – 1.8 showing.
Univision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 106.5” KLNV San Diego registers its largest share ever and first #1 finish since January 2016 according to Huff with a 5.5 to 7.1 jump. Entercom Classic Hits “Sunny 98.1” KXSN rises to second 6.1 to 6.4, while Public News/Talk 89.5 KPBS-FM drops to third 6.4 to 6.1.
The successful performance of the San Diego Padres helps Entercom Sports “97.3 The Fan” KWFN trend up 1.3 – 2.6 – 2.9.

KSE Media Hot AC “Mix 100” KIMN rises to a tie for second up 4.7 to 5.1, while Bonneville Country 98.5 KYGO trends down 6.7 – 5.9 – 5.1. The two Classic Rock stations in the market are close behind with iHeartMedia’s “103.5 The Fox” KRFX up 4.4 to 5.0 and Entercom’s “99.5 The Mountain” KQMT down 5.5 to 4.9.
Mangione Enterprises’ Conservative Talk 680 WCBM Baltimore jumps up 4.4 to 5.2. Huff notes that is the largest share for the station since 1981 when it aired a Full Service AC format.
