After stunting with songs about “change” branded as “105.5 Darrell-FM” all weekend, Townsquare Media Sports “105.5 The Fan” 630 KFXD/105.5 K288HG Boise flipped to Hip Hop “Power 105.5” at noon today.
Positioned as “Boise’s Hip Hop and R&B”, the station fills the Rhythmic CHR hole in the market created by Iliad Media Group’s “Wild 101.1” KWYD move to a Rhythmic leaning Mainstream CHR earlier this year.
KFXD will air The Jubal Show in mornings. KWYD was the former affiliate for Brooke & Jubal. When it dropped the replacement Brooke & Jeffrey in May for a local show hosted by Nathan and Rebecca Fast, Townsquare quickly picked it up for CHR “103.5 Kiss-FM” KSAS-FM.
Original Report 10:00am:Townsquare Media Sports “105.5 The Fan” 630 KFXD/105.5 K288HG Boise has dropped its format and is currently stunting with songs featuring the word “change” in its title as “105.5 Darrell-FM“.
The “Darrell” branding is in reference to crosstown competitor Iliad Media Group and their CEO Darrell Calton. Over the past few weeks we’ve noted that Iliad had been squatting on multiple domains for 105.5 Boise.
The KFXD website has been updated with the logo of what will be the new format for the station as Hip Hop “Power 105.5“. The new brand will target Iliad’s “Wild 101.1” KWYD which shifted from Hip Hop to a Rhythmic leaning Mainstream CHR earlier this year, while flanking Townsquare CHR “103.5 Kiss-FM” KSAS-FM.
