Following the default and failure to repay its loans to creditors, First Broadcasting’s Classic Hits 104.5 KMCQ Covington/Seattle, WA and Cincinnati rimshot combo Spanish “Mega 97.7” WOXY Mason, OH and Variety Hits “99.5 Max-FM” WAOL Ripley, OH will be auctioned off to the highest qualified bidder on Wednesday, February 23.
First specialized in moving stations into larger markets such as KMCQ which was previously licensed to The Dalles, OR before moving to Seattle which required frequency shifts in Bellingham, WA and Vancouver, BC to make happen. The station has not appeared in the ratings as it does not encode for PPM.
Half of the Cincinnati duo, 97.7 WOXY was leased to TSJ Media last fall and flipped to Spanish AC as “Mega 97.7“. The station is best known for its long run as Modern Rock “97X“. TSJ had an option to purchase the station. 99.5 WAOL continues to operate a jockless Variety Hits format as “Max-FM“.
