Tim McKernan, longtime morning host at 590 KFNS St. Louis will begin brokering Urban Talk 920 WGNU Granite City/St. Louis on August 1 to flip it to Sports.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that McKernan’s InsideSTL.com will program the station on weekdays with eleven hours of local talk daily. The move will help fill the void left by the flip of KFNS to Hot Talk “The Man” on May 1.
The station’s lineup will feature McKernan and co-hosts Jim Hayes and Doug Vaughn’s “The Morning After” from 7-10am. Frank Cusumano, who is currently on 590 from 10am to 12pm will take the same daypart on WGNU. Bryan Burwell, Joe Strauss, and Charlie Marlow will host from 12pm-2pm. The 2pm hour will be used audition new hosts. Former 101.1 KXOS Kevin Slaten and former St. Louis Cardinal Jack Clark will host from 3-6pm. Slaten is currently brokering time on 1190 KQQZ while Clark is hosting nights on KFNS. Network programming to be determined will air from 6pm to 7am.
WGNU operates with a directional 420 watts during the day and 500 watts at night. The station will continue its current programming on Saturday and Sunday.
