Sea-Comm Media is selling 95.9 W240AS Wilmington, NC to Sunrise Broadcasting for $200,000.
The original sale contract had the purchase price redacted as the agreement stated that Sunrise would amend the contract at a later date to acquire 103.7 WBNE Wrightsville Beach. The FCC filing states that the transfer of WBNE “may not occur for some time”.
Sea-Comm currently leases WBNE to Davis Media who operates the station as News “Port City Radio“. The sale agreement states that Sea-Comm must give Davis Media 30 days notice before the sale will close. Davis had been leasing all of Sea-Comm’s stations before outright purchasing 93.7 WNTB Topsail Beach, 98.3 WUIN Oak Island, and 106.3 WUDE Bolivia earlier this year. Sea-Comm also sold 1180 WLTT Carolina Beach to Carolina Christian Radio a couple weeks ago.
In order to acquire WBNE, Sunrise Broadcasting will need to divest or relocate one of its current Wilmington area stations as it is at the current FM ownership limit in the market. Sunrise owns Alternative “Modern Rock 98.7” WRMR Jacksonville, Rhythmic Oldies “Jammin 99.9” WKXB Boiling Spring Lakes, AC “Sunny 104.5” WILT Wilmington, and CHR “Z107.5” WAZO Southport.
It also owns Sports “ESPN 630” WMFD Wilmington which began simulcasting on 95.9 W240AS in April. Sunrise Broadcasting is owned by Raleigh based Capitol Broadcasting along with CBS affiliate WILM-LD 10.
