Radio Disney has sold off the first of its pending 23 divestitures as it sells 1590 KMIC Houston to DAIJ Media for $3.2 million.
The buyer, headed by Rafael and Ruben Villarreal, owns four other AMs and one FM translator in the Houston market: 880 KJOZ Conroe, 980 KQUE Rosenburg, 1380 KRCM Shenandoah, and 1460 KBRZ/95.1 K236AR Missouri City. DAIJ Media also owns three LPTV’s, while the Villarreal brothers are also the principal owners of five non-commercial FM’s under the Aleluya Broadcasting Network umbrella.
The article is incorrect. Not all of the stations air Radio Aleluya programming. While it is true that KQUE and KJOZ do, KRCM Shenandoah is brought to you by Radio Esmirna, KBRZ/K236AR Missouri City is Sangeet Radio by day, and Fort Bend County targeted “K-Breeze” at night.
K291CE is apparently originating its own programming, which of course is a no-no. Also imaged as “K-Breeze”, it airs a classic hits format.
K291CE is currently owned by a church aligned with HCCN, which is Cesar Guel’s group out of Dallas. It is being sold to RAFFT.
DAIJ brokers time to people like Sangeet and RAFFT. They have about as much control over the programming (read: run EAS and turn off the transmitter as prescribed by law) as Lieberman had over KSEV when programmed by Dan Patrick.
