The long and winding road for Michael and Tammy Celenza’s Apple 107.1 to move and upgrade 106.3 W292DV New York has come to an end.
John Bridge’s Big Apple Broadcasting has agreed to purchase the translator for $3.5 million. Bridge acquired 103.9 W280EM Chicago earlier this year, which is soon set to launch as Urban Jazz “The Groove“.
W292DV is best known for its ill-fated attempt to relocate to 4 Times Square in 2011 where it was to be operated by Clear Channel. That move was shot down due to interference complaints by Press Communications’ WKMK Eatontown, NJ. The translator finally settled in Long Island City, Queens where it currently operates with 4 watts at 200 meters (Coverage Map) via STA with an application to make that permanent.
W292DV currently airs Spanish Christian “Radio Cantico Nuevo” via 93.5 WVIP-HD4 New Rochelle. The sale document includes a provision that will that agreement and allow Big Apple Broadcasting to operate the translator for $10,000 per month until the sale closes.
