KYW 1060 is number 1, WPHT goes up .4 to a 1.8 in 19th place but still trails WWIQ. I think that CBS might make some drastic changes to 1210 because I think in CBS eyes, they should be the number 1 talk station, but instead, this upstart 106.9 FM is killing 1210 and I don’t think that CBS will put up with this for much longer. I would not be shocked if they get out of the talk business or even sell the station. That’s just my opinion http://ratings.radio-online.com/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb007 1210 should not be happy to be at a 1.8. |

People don’t listen to stations. They listen to talk shows. Hard to call 106.9 an “upstart” since they are running shows that used to be on 1210. Pretty much the same thing happened when 1210 got Rush away from WWDB. |

This might be far fetched, but would Standards work on 1210, with the Sinatra show already in place, I know when they were oldies way back when they had a big following in many states. Could they do any worst and with that signal they might crack a 4.0. We all know that format is not advertiser friendly but its worth a shot, whatelse is there, hopefully not another Hispanic outlet. I guess Julius cant help it, he has been raised on that phoney, other board, where anything goes and is allowed, as long as you agree with the head honchos. |

Before they flipped to Oldies, WPEN was getting decent numbers (better than anything since). It’s curious that stations can’t – or think they can’t – sell standards or oldies to advertisers. Meanwhile, cable channels and HD TV sub-channels targeting Boomers and Seniors are thriving. Advertisers buy 50s, 60s and 70s TV shows not but music from the same period. Go figure. Bottom line: Sales revenue matters. Ratings are only a sales tool. Julius didn’t mention that WHYY-FM is now the number one talk station in town. |
