As radioinsight reported on twitter WBZ-FM 98.5 (The sports hub) evening host Damon Amendolara is moving to the 2-6 am shift in January and going nationwide as part of the CBS Sports Radio Network and yes 98.5 will have it. His evening slot will be replaced
by someone else local (as Fybush noted given the absence of the NHL this is very
important). Meanwhile what becomes of JT The Brick via Fox Sports Radio? He has tweeted that his show has been #1 in that slot “for 16 years on 2 stations” (WEEI,
then WBZ-FM) and that they “have a plan in Boston”. He does mention iheartradio,
satellite radio, and his some 250 affiliates.

What does “a plan in Boston” mean? I could see:
a) WEEI taking him on FM while ESPN continues to run on 850 only. Does their
contract with ESPN allow this though?

b) there may be, no there IS a sports glut in Boston (but sports makes money).
So far Clear Channel–which syndicates Fox Sports–is doing comedy on 1200
and for all I know they may continue to do so. But who’s to say the highly
directional signal might not go all-Fox Sports? Or they could stay comedy
but run JT and maybe 1 or 2 other Fox Sports shows as part of it. (And you
thought the old WWZN was schizophrenic! :) )

so we’ll see

What becomes of Amendolara’s work on Comcast Sportnet & CSNNE.com? He does alot of commentary and twitter work for the New England based sports station. Most of the 98.5 staff also do work on Comcast Sportsnet.
