Update 5:45pm: Country 105.1 WOLF-FM/96.7 WWLF-FM made the move to 92.1 at 5:00 this afternoon as “92.1 The Wolf“.
Original Report 3/29 11:25am: Syracuse will see another station move to a new frequency as Family Life makes another deal in the market.
Family Life closed on its acquisitions of 92.1 WSEN-FM Baldwinsville and 106.3 WMCR-FM Oneida NY from Leatherstocking Media Group, but only WMCR-FM began airing the Family Life programming. After spending a week simulcasting Galaxy Communications Classic Hits “Sunny 102” WZUN as Galaxy merged WSEN’s intellectual property into their station, 92.1 is now airing the programming of Craig Fox’s Classic Hits “95.3/103.9 The Dinosaur” 103.9 WNDR-FM/95.3 W237AY.
That came about as Family Life has agreed to swap WSEN-FM to Fox for three of his Syracuse area signals. 96.7 WWLF-FM Oswego, 105.1 WOLF-FM Deruyter and 98.7 W254CI Camillus will begin airing Family Life’s programming next week forcing Fox to relocate the Country programming of “Wolf 105.1” from those three signals. Moving WOLF-FM to 92.1 would place the Country format on a stronger in-market Class B1 as opposed to the three signals it currently utilizes to compete against iHeartMedia’s 104.7 WBBS.
In recent weeks anonymous registrations had been made for Wolf921.com, 921FMTheWolf.com, and 92TheWolf.com in preparation of this move.
