Black Diamond Holdings led by Michael Chires and Norman McKee is acquiring seven Northern Michigan stations and one translator from Del Reynolds’ Northern Star Broadcasting for $1.95 million. The stations involved in the sale are Soft AC “Easy 95.5/106.3” WQEZ Glen Arbor/WOEZ Onaway, Classic Rock “The Bear” 97.7 WCHY Cheboygan/98.1 WGFN Glen Arbor, Country “Big Country Hits” 102.9 WMKC Indian River, Active Rock “Rock 105” 105.1 WGFM Cheyboygan and Classic Country “Big Country Gold” 1240 WCBY Cheboygan/100.7 W264CF St. Ignace. Northern Star will retain ownership of the tower sites of the stations and will file a deal to sell 107.1 WCKC Cadillac to a separate buyer.
The five Missouri stations owned by Randy Wachter under multiple licensees have been placed in receivership by the Circuit Court of Franklin County, MO following a default on a loan made by Louis Eckelkamp and East Central Broadcasting. Dennis Wallace, the appointed receiver owns three licenses and operates a fourth station via LMA. The stations transferred to the receivership are: Alternative “93X” 93.3 KQQX Hermann, AAA “FMX” 104.3 KKAC Vandalia, Silent 101.7 KQXQ Cuba, 101.7 KXQX Elsberry and 102.3 KIXK Wheatland.
Wachter refused to sign the assignment application to the FCC and made the following Facebook post about the situation blaming the operators of a bank for wanting to take the stations from him.
Curtis Durst sells his Thunder Associates to Elaine and Steven Davis for $1.3 million. Thunder owns Oldies 690 WELD Fisher, Country 101.7 WELD-FM Moorefield and Variety Hits “103.7 Jack-FM” WQWZ Fisher WV.
Divine Mercy Broadcasting is purchasing Classic Rock “100.3 The Wind” KXAA Cle Elum WA from Wheeler Broadcasting for $185,000.
Williams Communications sells Urban “98.3 The Beat Jamz” WFXO Ashland AL to Marble City Media for $50,000.
Whiplash Community Radio sells 90.1 KOWH Humboldt NE and 91.9 KTTE Springfield CO to Better Public Broadcasting Association for $10 and forgiveness of a promissory note.
