Cumulus Classic Hits 93.5 WRQN Bowling Green/Toledo OH has appointed Cliff Smithers as its new Program Director/Morning Host.
Smithers rejoins the Cumulus Toledo cluster from Maumee Valley Broadcasting Association Christian AC “102.3 The Promise” WPOS-FM where he served as PD/Afternoon Host/Morning Co-host. He fills the vacancy created by Mark Elliott’s resignation in May to relocate to Columbus where he is now working in sales for the Tom Kent Radio Network.
Smithers previously spent 21 years at the Cumulus Toledo cluster including 12 years in afternoons at sister Country “K100” 99.9 WKKO.
Cumulus Media announces that Cliff Smithers joins Classic Hits-formatted WRQN-FM in Toledo as Program Director and Morning Personality. Smithers will debut on The WRQN Breakfast Show on Monday, August 8, 2016, from 5AM-9AM EST. This marks a homecoming for Smithers, who started his radio career at Cumulus Media-Toledo, where he was on-air for 21 years from 1989 through 2010, hosting shows on WTOD-AM 1560, WRQN-FM, and on K100 (WKKO). His other on-air positions include shows on WIOG in Saginaw, MI; WGRV in Detroit; and CBS Radio-Detroit’s WOMC and WYCD.
