Gary Pizzati To Retire As Cumulus Senior VP

Cumulus Media John Johnboy Crenshaw Grand Rapids YoungstownCumulus Senior Vice President Gary Pizzati has announced he will retire as of August 31.

Pizzati has been with Cumulus since 1998 moving up from Augusta GA and later Mobile AL market manager to SVP in 2005. Prior to joining Cumulus he managed Barnstable Broadcasting’s operations in Des Moines. He most recently was overseeing 27 markets for Cumulus.

Cumulus Media announces that Senior Vice President Gary Pizzati will retire from the company and from radio broadcasting, after a successful 30-year career. Pizzati will retire at the end of August.

Pizzati said: “The past 30 years in radio and 18 with Cumulus have been extremely rewarding. I truly love radio and all the amazing people who power this exciting industry. It’s been a part of my life since my teens and has been a remarkable journey that started from my days on air.”

Mary Berner, President and Chief Executive Officer, Cumulus Media, said: “Known as a strong leader, teacher, and consummate radio guy, Gary’s contributions to Cumulus cannot be overstated. He will be greatly missed by his Cumulus colleagues.” 

After stints behind the mic hosting morning and afternoon drive positions, as well as various programming positions, Gary joined Cumulus in 1998 as Market Manager in Augusta, GA. Since then, he has had a distinguished career with the company, rising to SVP in 2005 with responsibility for 27 markets, including two of the company’s largest markets. While his career highlights are numerous, most notably, he was directly responsible for turning around several major markets and recruiting some of the best talent into the company. A Cumulus President’s Cup winner, he was also honored as a “Best Manager in Radio” twice by Radio Ink Magazine.
