The Tupelo MS market has seen a dramatic shakeup over the past few weeks.
The changes started on July 29 with iHeartMedia’s flip of 99.3 WBVV to Classic Hits “Big 99.3“. Then Telesouth Communications closed on its acquisitions of Variety Hits “Max 95.9” WCNA and AC “Power 101.9” WFTA and ceased their LMA’s of Flinn Broadcasting’s 96.3 WXWX and 102.9 WWMR leading to new formats on all four of those frequencies. WCNA has assumed Telesouth’s “SuperTalk Mississippi” programming from WWMR, while WFTA has shifted from AC to Classic Hits while retaining the “Power 101.9” branding. 96.3 WXWX has dropped its ESPN Radio programming, while it and 102.9 WWMR will soon be operated by Mike Brandt’s MD Broadcasting via LMA. Both stations are currently running filler music programming.
The latest change took place on Friday as iHeartMedia flipped Urban AC “Power 92 Jamz” WESE Baldwyn to Urban “92.5 The Beat“. The station has picked up The Steve Harvey Morning Show in place of Tom Joyner.
