Riverbend Communications will flip News/Talk “101.1 KEIR” 1260 KEIR Idaho Falls/690 KEII Blackfoot/92.7 K224EL Pocatello/101.1 K266AF Pocatello ID to Mormon oriented Christian AC “Sunny AM 1260/690“.
The new format will build off the syndicated “Sounds Of Sunday” program that airs on sister AC “Classy 97.3” KLCE with artists such as Hilary Weeks, Michael W. Smith, Cherie Call, Kenneth Cope, Amy Grant, Paul Cardall, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The station will retain the syndicated Dave Ramsey show from 12-3pm. Among the shows being dropped with the change are Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, and the local Idaho’s Morning News with Dylan Carder.
Riverbend Communications today announced the launch of a new East Idaho radio station, “Sunny AM 1260/ 690.” Beginning October 1, the music station will broadcast “the Sounds Of Sunday all week,” from LDS standards to contemporary Christian favorites. The station replaces the current Newstalk product on KEIR-AM/ KEII-AM.
“The Sounds Of Sunday has been a beloved radio feature for over thirty years,” said Riverbend Communications General Manger Bill Fuerst. “We’re building on that legacy by making the Sounds Of Sunday a permanent fixture so East Idaho can tune in any day of the week.”
Riverbend Communications Operations Manger Mike Nelson said, “If you’ve ever thought every day should be like Sunday, this is your station. You’ll hear the best of Hilary Weeks, Michael W. Smith, Cherie Call, Kenneth Cope, Amy Grant, Paul Cardall, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and more.”
“Sunny AM” will continue to air the Dave Ramsey show live each weekday from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. The show features straight talk about life and money from one of the nation’s top talk show hosts.
The October 1 launch of the station coincides with the 186th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The station will air the morning and afternoon sessions live on both Saturday and Sunday.
Riverbend Communications stations include KLCE 97, Z103, 105.5/ 105.9 The Hawk, and Kbear 101
I wonder if Dave Ramsey’s show is staying only because the “Sunny” stations couldn’t get out of their contract to carry his show and that once it ends, the 12 Noon-3 P.M. slot will also become Christian Adult Contemporary.
