Clear Channel has brought its 50kw News/Talker 810 WGY Albany, NY to the FM band today replacing Modern Rock “Channel 103.1” WHRL. While the new WGY-FM does not have the coverage range of 810, it gives the station access to younger demographics in the Greater Capital District of New York.
WHRL was the lowest rated of Clear Channel’s 5 FM’s in a market that until today was over-saturated with Rock outlets. Townsquare Media’s Active Rock “Q103” WQBK/WQBJ and Northshire Communications’ Alternative 102.7 WEQX will be the biggest beneficiaries of WHRL’s demise.
