Chico, CA has gone from being CHR-less to having two Hit Music stations as Deer Creek Broadcasting and Results Radio both act to fill the niche.
Results Radio acted first flipping “Oldies 102.1” KCEZ to “Power 102” on Wednesday. The new station will be based off of sister “Power 94” KEWB in the adjacent Redding market. Results is directing the Oldies audience to its sister Variety Hits “92.7 Bob-FM” KBQB and Classic Rock “Thunder 100.7” KTHU while the previous KCEZ airstaff will move to new positions in the cluster.
Deer Creek Broadcasting has followed suit by flipping Sports “ESPN 101.7” KRER to Adult CHR “101.7 Kiss-FM” today. The station changed its calls to KCKS earlier this month. The Sports format will remain on 1340 KEWE along with San Francisco Giants baseball and Butte College football. Chico State University sports shifts from 101.7 to sister News/Talk 1290 KPAY.
Chicoer.com adds that Deer Creek Broadcasting is now managed by Peak Broadcasting, which operates stations in Fresno and Boise.
