After stunting all weekend with “Atlanta’s Radio Idol”, the second shoe in the 99.7/100.5 frequency swap dropped this morning at 6:00am with the debut of The Regular Guys on “Rock 100.5“.
The Regular Guys, made up of Larry Wachs, Eric Von Haessler, “Southside” Steve Rickman and Tim Andrews had two tours of duty at crosstown 96.1 WKLS when it was known as “96 Rock”. The station, which later relaunched as “Project 9-6-1“, was partially responsible for the demise of 99X. The new “Rock 100.5” looks to be positioning itself as a Mainstream Rocker. The rest of the station’s staff includes 99X holdovers Axel in Afternoon Drive, Matt C. & Lewis at night, and Matt Jones in the overnight and as host of the Sunday Morning acoustic “Organic X” program. Rob Roberts, PD at Q100, takes on the same duties at Rock 100.5.
The station’s first hour of music following the Regular Guys consisted of:
The Who – Baba O’Riley 2
Aerosmith – Sweet Emotion
Guns N’ Roses – Paradise City
Van Halen – Panama
Collective Soul – Shine
Led Zeppelin – Rock And Roll
Def Leppard – Rock Of Ages
Nirvana – Come As You Are
The Rolling Stones – It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll (But I Like It)
AC/DC – Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
The Black Crowes – Kickin’ My Heart Around
Bad Company – Feel Like Makin’ Love
Pearl Jam – Even Flow
