Update 6/20: KHPT began its simulcast of 107.5 KGLK at 5:30am today with the beginning of the Dean & Rog morning show.
Original Report 6/17: Cox Media Group Classic Alternative “106.9 The Zone” KHPT Conroe, TX will flip to a simulcast of sister Classic Rock “107.5 The Eagle” KGLK Lake Jackson, TX on Monday, June 20.
Both stations rimshot Houston from opposite sides of the market, with 106.9 coming from 35 miles northeast of the city and 107.5 35 miles south of the city. The move will give the format a city grade signal throughout the Houston market. 107.5 has had a simulcast northeast of Houston in the past when then 97.1 KKTL (now “Country Legends 97.1” KTHT) rebroadcast its programming from 1998-2000. Cox registered HoustonsEagle.com and HoustonsZone.com last week.
106.9 flipped from 80s/90s Oldies “The Point” to Classic Alternative this past November. That format will now move to HD2 and online only.
