Apex Broadcasting’s 105.1 WALJ Northport, AL has signed-on serving the Tuscaloosa market.
The station has been leased to Cox Media, who is using it to expand its “Jamz” brand based out of 95.7 WBHJ Birmingham. The new “105.1 Jamz” is simulcasting WBHJ’s Roy Wood, Jr. morning show but is separately programmed the rest of the day.
In order to allow WALJ to sign-on, AC “1230 The River” WTBC has moved its translator from 105.1 to 100.1. We’ll be interested in seeing if WALJ attempts to force Clear Channel to move its “Hallelujah 105.1” W286BK Birmingham off that frequency as it competes with Cox’s 610 WAGG.
