Astral Media has closed on its acquisition of AAA “Shore 104.3” CHHR Vancouver from Shore Media Group and is preparing to get ready to change formats.
The entire airstaff was dismissed today. The station’s website currently features the following message:
We’re making changes to make Shore FM a better radio station. We appreciate your patience.
For now, we’re playing even more of your favourite Shore music. If you have suggestions or ideas on what you’d like to hear on Shore FM let us know using the form below.
We reported in December that Astral had registered Boom1043.com for potential use at CHHR.
Hi Lance,
Is it too late? Anything you suggest that listeners can do, besides comment on the website? This was the only radio station that I have ever listened to and not wanted to change the station every few songs. I know many people who feel the same.
Thanks, Wendy
Wendy,
The best possible solution is to mobilize companies that advertise on the station to increase their ad budgets with the caveat they’ll cancel if the station is gone. It still may not be enough to save the format, but the best way to get their attention is to hit them in their wallets.
Such a shame. Shore 104 was my favourite station too. After what Astral has done, not any more. I’m listening to 110.5 The Peak.
Come on! I just found Shore 104.3 less that a year ago. Fell in love right off the bat. I moved up here from Denver 6 years ago & it took me this long to find a station that could compete with my beloved KBCO in Boulder, CO. The Shore is the water that I drink & air that I breathe while I tarry away in my office every day. I sincerely hope that the new format keeps adult alternative music & grown up DJs.
