A CHR war is on in the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois.
Clear Channel Classic Hits “Kool 101.3” KUUL shifted to Top 40 this morning as “101.3 Kiss-FM” putting the station in direct competition with Cumulus’ “B100” KBEA.
The new station will be primarily fed from out of town with Elvis Duran in the Morning, Ryan Seacrest middays, and Premium Choice at night. Local host Todd Alan shifts from sister AC “Mix 96” KMXG for afternoons.
In the fall 2011 ratings, KUUL was 6th in the market overall with a 6.8 share, just behind KBEA’s 7.6 share.
The Quad Cities Business Journal reports that KUUL morning hosts Mark Manuel and Steve Ketelaar moved to mornings at sister News/Talk 1420 WOC.
Should have done that 6 years ago when they had to sell All Hit 98-9 (WHTS)
