KGY-FM Olympia, WA Goes Country

South Sound Country 96.9 The Sound KGY KGY-FM Olympia Olympic Puget Seattle Tacoma
The Country void in the Southern Puget Sound region of Washington that was created by the flip of 102.9 KNBQ Centralia to a simulcast of Sports 950 KJR Seattle in November has been filled.

Hot AC “96.9 The Sound” KGY-FM McCleary/Olympia has dropped its “Cool Classics & Hot Hits” billed format to become “South Sound Country 96.9“. SeaTacRadio.com had reported earlier this month that a couple members of KGY’s airstaff had been dismissed.

The Olympic Peninsula may lose another Country station as “Bigfoot 93.7” KANY Ocean Shores/Aberdeen has a CP to move to Montesano where it will potentially join 97.7 KOMO-FM, 99.3 KDDS, and KNBQ as Seattle targeted rimshots.
