Sunrise Broadcasting’s AC “Fox Radio” gains one and loses two simulcast partners.
The station based at 103.1 WJGK Newburgh, NY has lost its simulcast partners 96.7 WTSX Lehman Township/Stroudsburg, PA and 1490/107.7 WDLC Port Jervis, NY but gained 97.3 W247AW Poughkeepsie, NY.
The 97.3 translator, which had been silent, has a CP to boost power from 10 watts to 250. With its 754 foot tower height, the translator will have coverage equal to most Class A FM’s. The translator is being fed by sister 98.9 WGNY-HD3. We are unsure if the station is operating under the new facilities at this time.
Sunrise had been leasing 96.7 WTSX and 1490 WDLC since 2005. During this time 96.7 was moved from Port Jervis, NY to accomodate the move of what is now WKLV into the New York market and 1490 gained the translator 107.7 W299BA to retain FM coverage in Port Jervis. The stations which have now flipped to Classic Hits were purchased by Neversink Media from PJ Radio last fall. Pocono967.com was registered for the new format by Digital Radio Broadcasting on behalf of Neversink.
In addition to the AC “Fox Radio“, Sunrise through its various subsidiaries operates “Fox Oldies” 1220 WGNY Newburgh/98.9 WGNY-FM Rosendale and Dance “Drive FX” on 94.1 W231BP Chester/Newburgh, NY and 95.7 W239BL Poughkeepsie.
I hope that I am going to see Gary in the morning on your show. He is the best morning DJ in the area. Your listener-ship will grow immensely. It was a great loss to the Poconos when there was no more Gary in the morning.
