Update 5/29: WYAY made the long awaited move to News at 5am this morning. Anchors Andy Rose and Michelle Wright kicked off the station.
Content includes ABC News at the top & bottom of the hour. Sports reports are branded from “680 The Fan” WCNN and weather from “Fox 5” WAGA-TV. Listen to the launch of All News 106.7 at FormatChange.com.
Update 5/21: Cumulus announced today that “All News 106.7” will debut on Tuesday, May 29 at 5am.
Original Report 4/27: Cumulus Media will flip “Atlanta’s Greatest Hits” 106.7 WYAY to All News in Mid-May.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports via statement from Cumulus’ John Dickey that the station will attempt to attract a broader audience than most older male targeted News stations with a mix of pop-culture, entertainment news, celebrity news, along with hard news.
Rodney Ho of The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Cumulus has hired many former CNN Radio staffers for the new station.
The new format will be pitted up against Cox News/Talk 750/95.5 WSB. WSB has a news block in morning drive, but is Talk the rest of the day. Atlanta has been the largest market without any all-news programming outside morning drive.
We first told you on April 6 that Cumulus had registered domains indicating a plan to launch All News on 106.7 in Atlanta.
Translation: This is going to be like Merlin’s FM (aka “chick news”), all news according to Randy Michaels. Broader than what? “…a broader listenership than the predominantly male, 50-plus audience that tuned into all-news stations 20 to 30 years ago when the content was strictly hard news.”
The website has a web player audio stream:

The station is also on IHeartRadio.com (as “Atlanta’s Greatest Hits”)
Just heard one of their news readers (apparently from out of town) say “Cobb County.” It’s spelled C-O-B-B but people down there say “cab.”
Woops, they same guy just gave the wrong last name for a Fox5 reporter after playing a report.
