July 4 Weekend Format Change Rundown

With the Independence Day holiday falling in the middle of the week the normal format change run-up the weekend before has been stretched out a bit this year.

Completed Changes:

July 3: Radio-One shifts 102.9 W275BK Atlanta from a simulcast of UrbanHot 107.9” WHTA to Gospel “Praise 102.5” WPZE

July 3: Variety Hits “95.3 JackFM” KLXS Pierre, SD shifts to “Country 95.3

July 3:Gen X Radio 106.1” KTGX Tulsa flips to Country106.1 The Twister

July 3: KVLO Humnoke, AR drops its simulcast of Gospel 102.5 KPZK for Variety Hits “101.7 JackFM

July 3: Classic Country “Eagle 104.3” WEYE Kingsport, TN begins simulcasting new sister Christian AC 88.3 WCQR.

July 3: Oldies 1330 KWLO Waterloo, IA flips to Sports “ESPN Radio 1330

July 2: Gen X Hits “99.3X” KPCH Monroe, LA reverts to Classic HitsThe Peach

July 2: Border Media’s 92.5 KXXS Elgin/Austin, TX drops ESPN Deportes Radio for Christian AC “K-Love” as it is sold to EMF Broadcasting.

July 2: Border Media’s 720 KSAH Universal City/San Antonio dropped its simulcast of sister “Norteno 104.1” KSAH-FM last week to pick up ESPN Deportes Radio.

July 2: 104.9 WINN Columbus, IN debuted its new Adult CHR “Win 104.9” identity at 10:49am.

July 2: KSBJ Houston has shifted 89.5 KZBJ Bay City, 91.1 KYBJ Lake Jackson and 99.5 K258BZ Sugar Land to its HD2 based Christian CHRNGen Radio” feed.

July 2: 91.7 KXOT Tacoma/Seattle has temporarily gone dark as its LMA to Puget Sound Public Radio expires.

July 2: Cherry Creek Radio’s Regional Mexican “La Super Z” 106.7 KWWX Wenatchee, WA and 1330 KWNC Quincy, WA flipped to Spanish Adult Hits “Juan

July 2: Clear Channel AC “Lite 102.9” WLYT Charlotte shifts to Variety Hits102.9 The Lake

July 2: Max Media’s Rhythmic Oldies “Jammin 101.5” KJHM Denver shifts to Urban AC with new tagline of “True Old School, Smooth R&B”

July 1: Radio Activo Broadcasting has closed on its purchase of “Jelli Rock 94.5” KXLI Las Vegas and flipped it to Spanish CHREXA-FM

July 1: Clear Channel CHR “93.1 All The Hits” KPLV Las Vegas rebrands as “My 93.1

July 1: 99.3 KLGO/98.5 K253AN Austin have begun stunting under new KOKE-FM calls.

July 1: 102.7 WBOW-FM Terre Haute drops AC for Country as “Q102.7” WDWQ.

June 29: Rock “Y106.1” WWWY Columbus, IN begins simulcasting sister Classic Hits “104.9 The River” WINN as it will assume the format. 104.9 will flip to Adult CHR “Win 104.9

June 29: Soft AC “Carolina 92.1” WWNU Columbia became AAA92.1 The Palm” at 5pm

June 29: 850 WRUF Gainesville and 900 WMOP Ocala combine their Sports programming as “ESPN 850/900

June 28: Univision flips three in Dallas. Spanish Oldies “Recuerdo” is dropped by 107.1 KDXX and 107.9 KESS; Regional Mexican “La Jefa” moves from 99.1 KFJO to 107.1; 107.9 becomes Hispanic CHR “Radio H20“; 99.1 becomes Spanish AC “Maxima“.

June 28: WODS Boston flips from Classic Hits to CHR “Amp Radio 103.3

    KIIS HD 2 is now Club KIIS On hd 2 channel at noon Today

      Considering the few people with access or interest in HD subchannels unless they have an analog translator, not really.


  2. So what do you think of a possible flip for WZGC in the ATL? Just let their PD go, is it likely they could flip from AAA?


  3. At Midnight July 1, 1450 KBPS in Portland, Ore. (owned by the Portland Public School District) signed off for the summer for the first time in 41 years. Their general manager also exited due to district budget cuts. PDX Radio has exclusive coverage.
