Lincoln Financial Media’s Classic Hits “Majic 102.7” WMXJ Miami has relaunched its format under new PD Sam Zniber.
The station’s name has been slightly adjusted from “Majic” to the normal “Magic” with the city of Miami being emphasized over the station’s frequency. Positioning shifts from “Classic Tracks Of The 60s, 70s, and 80s” to “Miami’s Greatest Hits”. The playlist has been widened to include more Classic Rock tracks.
The station’s personalities have been shuffled as well. Night host Vance Phillips and middayer Mindy Lang have moved to mornings. Joe Johnson, who had been in mornings takes over the 10am-3pm midday slot. Ron St. John stays in afternoons but sees his airshift move from 2-7pm to 3-8pm.
Uh… that “M” logo kinda looks… familiar in a way. Weird, isn’t it?
Do you want your Magic Radio?
Between the logo’s imagery and the Rubik’s cubes & pictures of Simon all over the website, I’m surprised to see they’re only playing about 2 80’s records an hour.
Instead of retooling, just change it outright to. Classic Rock 102.7 Sounds good to me. Before she 103.5 flips back to it.
When a prominent radio station such as WMXJ-FM is inundated with market research BS over the years that flouts its loyal listener base, this is the result. A true “classic hits” station would include a wide range of music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and yes even the 80s too.
Just because I wasn’t around for the first three decades of Rock ‘N’ Roll doesn’t mean we won’t like it.
get rid of ron st john and bring back eric brandon and voice track 7pm-12midnight.
