Adult Standards “102.7 The Lake” WLYK Cape Vincent, NY has flipped to AC.
The station, unique in that it is licensed to the United States but managed and operated out of Canada, retains its existing moniker with the change. The station is licensed to Border International Broadcasting, with 47% owned by Rogers Media which manages the station. WLYK broadcasts out of the Rogers studios in Kingston along with sister Country “Kix 93.5” CKXC and Rock “K-Rock 105.7” CIKR with an additional office in Watertown, NY.
The move brings Kingston its first AC station since “Lite 104.3” CFFX flipped to Classic Hits in 2010.
Up until now, for all intents and purposes, The Lake was a soft oldies station(ever since they dropped the CHR simulcast with 106.7), and since Kingston lost their conventional oldies station when CKWS-960 left the air awhile back, The Lake was getting some of that audience by default, as I knew oldies fans in Kingston who listened to 102.7. Of course, CKWS-104.3 went to an oldies format not too long ago, hence the switch at 102.7.
