It amazes that in 2012, there can still be times where a format change will go unnoticed and unreported anywhere for over two weeks. One such change occurred on September 13, when Brazos Communications West flipped Variety Hits “95.1 Bob-FM” KQRX Midland, TX to Active Rock “Rock 95.1“.
Brazos Communications West acquired KQRX, Classic Hits “97 Gold” KMCM, and Country “Kicks 99.1” KHKX earlier this year from Townsquare Media. Townsquare then acquired Cumulus Media’s cluster as part of the 65 station swap. Brazos Communications West head Tommy Vascocu was General Partner of Encore Broadcasting, which owned the three stations from 2001 to 2006. KQRX was Modern Rock with a harder lean as “95X” during that time.
Kotter, Program Director/Morning Host at Brazos’ “Rock 103.9” KJXJ Bryan/College Station is serving in the same role at KQRX. He previously worked in Midland in mornings at 99.9 KBAT.
