Update 1/1: “Power Talk” debuted has expected at midnight on 96.7 KALZ and 1400 KRZR.
Update 12/10: Clear Channel has announced that it will flip Hot AC “Alice 96.7” KALZ to “Power Talk 96.7” on January 1. The station will simulcast on 1400 KRZR Visalia to improve coverage south of Fresno. KRZR currently simulcasts “Fox Sports 1340” KCBL.
The station’s lineup will feature mostly Premiere Radio Networks content including Glenn Beck 6-9am, Rush Limbaugh 9am-12pm, Sean Hannity 12-3pm, Andy Dean 6-9pm, Clyde Lewis 9-10pm, and George Noory 10pm-6am. They will be joined by a local program hosted by Bill Manders from 3-6pm.
AllAccess first tipped the possibility of KALZ flipping to Talk on November 14.
Original Report 10/5: Major changes are on the way to the spoken word stations in Fresno.
Peak Broadcasting’s 580 KMJ and 105.9 KMJ-FM will go to a mostly local programming schedule as Premiere Radio Networks will pull its programs including Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity from the stations within the next 90 days. KMJ will restructure the programming lineups on 580 and 105.9 to utilize all their local hosts on both stations with the exception of the syndicated Dave Ramsey. KMJ currently leads the market with a 7.7 share, while 105.9 KMJ-FM registered a 1.2 share in the most recent ratings trend.
That is nothing compared to the changes taking place at 940 KYNO. That station will drop Talk this weekend as it assumes the local ESPN Radio affiliation from 1430 KFIG. 940ESPNFresno.com is now redirecting to 1430’s website. No word yet on what programming will go on 1430.
Where will the Premiere Radio Networks programs head? Nothing official has been stated yet, but if we had money riding on it we’d place our bets on one of Clear Channel’s lower rated FM’s in the market such as Country “102.7 The Wolf” KHGE or Hot AC “Alice 96.7” KALZ.
