Cumulus’ move of 97.9 KNRQ-FM Eugene, OR into the Portland market has been delayed.
The station has held a CP to change city of license to the Portland suburb of Aloha where it was to operate as a Class C1 with 10kW at 470 meters. That construction permit was set to expire on January 16, 2013. In its new application Cumulus states it was unable to build at that tower site in the remaining time allotted and has located a new location where it can build within a few months of being authorized.
The new application seeks to operate the station with 52kW at 387 meters. The station would transmit from the “Stonehenge” antenna site utilized by eight other Portland area FM’s and is the planned location of KWLZ-FM when it moves into the market on 96.3.
Cumulus recently acquired 103.7 KXPC-FM to replace KNRQ in the Eugene market.
