Update 4/1: Wilks has launched Sports “95.5 The Game” as “K95” moved to 107.1 with a flip to Classic Country.
Update 3/4: Wilks has directly registered 955TheGameOnline.com for potential use on WHOK.
Update 3/1: While Wilks has not yet made a move in Columbus, more signs point to an additional FM Sports outlet in the market.
Dispatch Broadcasting, owners of Sports “97.1 The Fan” WBNS-FM and “ESPN 1460” WBNS has registered a bunch of blocking domains. 955TheTicket.com, 95TheTicket.com, 955TheTicketColumbus.com, SportsRadio955TheTicket.com, and TheTicketColumbus.com were registered on February 25 and all redirect to 97.1’s website. “K95.5” WHOK is Wilks’ other Country station in the market along with “Wink 107.1” WNKK.
Update 1/29: Wilks made the first flip on Monday, as KJZN became “105.5 The Game“. The station is running the complete CBS Sports Radio lineup around the clock.
Original Report 1/24: In the original list of CBS Sports Radio affiliates, Wilks Broadcasting Country “Wink 107.1” WNKK Columbus, OH was listed amongst the stations picking up the network. The debut of the network came and went without a change at WNKK. Now Wilks has registered the domains indicating a flip is coming in Columbus as well as in Fresno.
Starting in Columbus, 1071SportsRadio.com was claimed on January 16 by Wilks. A flip to Sports would join Dispatch’s “97.1 The Fan” WBNS-FM, “ESPN 1460” WBNS, and Clear Channel’s “Fox Sports 1230” WYTS in the Sports battle in the market. The Circleville licensed WNKK rimshots the Columbus market from the southeast and registered a 0.5 share in the December PPM’s.
Over in Fresno, “105.5 The Truth” KJZN is preparing to shed its spot as the third Conservative Talker on FM in the market following the debut of Clear Channel’s “Power Talk 96.7” KALZ. 1055TheGame.com was registered yesterday for the station that currently features programming exclusively from Talk Radio Network that includes rerunning many of the same programs twice daily.
“105.5 The Game” would join Clear Channel’s “Fox Sports 1340” KCBL and Fat Dawg 7’s combo of “ESPN 940” KFIG and “790 ESPN Radio 2” KFPT. KJZN will be entering the third year of its three year contract to serve as the broadcaster for AAA Fresno Grizzlies baseball.
