Update 3/18: KLTD has flipped to Classic Hits “K101.7” branded as “Central Texas Greatest Hits”. Big Q will host afternoons on the station beginning Monday, March 25.
Original Report 3/15: Townsquare Media Sports “101.7 The Ticket” KLTD Temple, TX has dropped its format and has begun stunting as “101.7 The Bone” with “Music for Dogs”.
The stunt, developed by Paige Nienaber, is tied in to promote Townsquare’s RadioPup mobile app. Playing songs with canine references, the stunt launched with Baja Men’s “Who Let The Dogs Out?”, Patti Page’s “How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?”, and Snoop Dogg’s “What’s My Name”.
Townsquare registered both 1017TheBone.com and K1017FM.com on March 1.
The station’s Sports format primarily featured programming from Fox Sports Radio along with the Walton & Johnson morning show and Jim Rome. A promo during the stunt indicate the local “Sports Talk Of The Town” with Gene Pemberton will move on Monday to sister News/Talk 1400 KTEM.
KLTD and the remainder of Townsquare’s Killeen/Temple cluster were among the stations acquired in last year’s 65 station swap with Cumulus Media.
