The Free Lance-Star Publishing Company has launched a new Eclectic music station in Fredericksburg, VA.
96.5 W243BS has dropped its simulcast of News/Talk 1350 WNTX for the new format branded as “Fred-FM” being fed by the HD subchannel of 93.3 WFLS. The Free Lance-Star describes the new format as “an eclectic blend of music geared to in-office listening during the day, and highlighting a different type of music each evening. Programming will include the blues on Mondays, honky-tonk on Tuesdays and jazz on Saturdays.”
The station will be branded as an extension of the newspaper’s Fredericksburg.com with programming featuring local musicians, news, and events. The translator operates with 250 watts at 86 meters.
Fred-FM joins a Free Lance-Star radio cluster than includes Country 93.3 WFLS, Classic Rock “96.9 The Rock” WWUZ, Rhythmic CHR “99.3 The Vibe” WVBX, and News/Talk/Sports 1350 WNTX in Fredericksburg.
