Capitol Broadcasting Company has acquired a pair of translators in the Raleigh/Durham market from Radio Training Network for $450,000.
Acquired are 97.1 W246CG Durham, which currently operates with just 1 watt and 99.3 W257CS Morrisville (halfway between Durham and Raleigh) that operates with two watts. Both translators, which currently rebroadcast 88.5 WRTP Franklinton NC, will be used to bring Sports “620 The Buzz” WDNC Durham to FM based on the sale filings.
Based on the price paid for these very low-powered translators, its safe to assume Capitol has plans to upgrade the facilities of the pair. A clause allowing Capitol to do so is in the sale agreement along with clauses that if they place a Christian format on either of the translators they must pay an additional $500,000 and if they are resold within the next five years Radio Training Network gets half of the proceeds.
