Despite originally stating that 1490 WXTG will also join the Tide simulcast, the station will retain its “Game” Sports format without its local programming. The station carries Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick, CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome, and NBC Sports Radio programming.

The move will return the AAA format to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach market for the first time since 2003. The sale will be filed with the FCC on July 31 and a LMA will commence shortly thereafter.

1490 WXTG/102.1 WXTG-FM will continue to carry Washington Nationals and Redskins play-by-play through the current seasons. Red Zebra, owned by Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, continues to own Sports formatted stations in Washington and Richmond.
