EMF Broadcasting has filed to purchase Portland, OR move-in 97.9 KXPC (formerly KNRQ) Aloha from Cumulus for $6.8 Million.
EMF will utilize the station to give its flagship Christian AC “KLove” a full powered signal in the Portland market. It’s programming is currently heard on rimshot 88.7 KLVP Sandy and 96.3 K242AF Portland (which has a displacement CP on file to relocate to 103.7).
EMF will begin programming the station once it signs-on via a Time Brokerage Agreement. The station changed its application in Mid-July to build at the Skyline tower site in order to file for a license before August 1. The companies have agreed to file to relocate the station back to the originally planned Stonehenge tower site where the station’s permanent facility will be built.
Additionally, Cumulus will receive an option to purchase translator 95.9 K240CZ Tigard, OR from EMF for $200,000 within the next two years. The translator holds a CP to increase power from 19 to 99 watts and will place a signal over all of Portland and adjacent suburbs.
