Update 8/30: WGCO relaunched as Classic Country “98.3 Hank-FM” at 6am this morning.
Original Report 8/29: L&L Broadcasting is preparing its first programming move since acquiring Triad Broadcasting’s Savannah stations earlier this year.
Classic Hits “Big 98.3” WGCO Midway, GA is stunting with a loop of Hank Williams Jr.’s “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight”. The stunt will likely lead into a flip to Classic Country as “Hank FM“. 983HankFM.com was registered anonymously earlier this month.
A flip to Classic Country will fill the market void left by the pending sale of “Classic Country 92.3” WSGA to EMF Broadcasting, which will flip the station to Christian AC.
WGCO registered a 2.4 share in the Spring 2013 Arbitron ratings. L&L also programs Classic Hits on “103.1 The Drive” WGZO, which serves the northern portions of the Savannah market and Hilton Head, SC. That frequency will be spun-off when L&L acquires 100.1 WSSJ, which covers the entire market.
