Update 3/20/14: Gateway Creative Broadcasting will debut Christian CHR “Boost 101.9” on Monday, March 24 at 12:05pm on 101.9 K270BW Bellefonte (a 250 watt translator owned by Educational Media Foundation that will serve the city itself), 94.1 KPVR Bowling Green (which serves the northwest suburbs), 97.7 KHZR Potosi (which serves the southern suburbs), and 99.1 KLJY-HD2 Clayton.
Led by PD Mike Couchman, the station is emphasizing Lecrae, Skillet, Britt Nicole, and Flame as core artists. The format is described by Couchman as, “a diverse mix of Pop, Hip-Hop, Rock, and EDM for teens, college students and anyone with a young mindset. The music will be positive, fun and faith-based.”
Original Report 11/13/13: Gateway Creative Broadcasting has confirmed plans to launch a second station in the St. Louis area.
The owners of Christian AC “Joy-FM” 99.1 KLJY Clayton will launch a Christian CHR on a trio of frequencies in early 2014. The new format will be heard on 94.1 KPVR Bowling Green (which serves the northwest suburbs), 97.7 KHZR Potosi (which serves the southern suburbs), and 101.9 K270BW Bellefonte (a 250 watt translator owned by Educational Media Foundation that will serve the city itself). KHZR and KPVR currently simulcast KLJY’s programming.
KLJY’s info page regarding the new station describes the new format as “a mix of Pop, Hip Hop, Rap, Rock. It will be musically similar to Z107 (but with Christian music/lyrics). Just like JOY FM, the listeners will be able to determine the kind of music/songs heard.” It is seeking $400,00 in donations to help launch the new format.
