Update 12/16 5:00pm: Lee Family Broadcasting will flip KINF to Regional Mexican “La Perrona 99.1” in early January.
The new format will feature the syndicated Ricardo “El Mandril” Sanchez in mornings, Program Director Benjamín “El Chupacabras” Reed in middays, Erazno y La Chokolata in afternoons, and La Chaparrita Ramírez. The station will also carry the 2014 World Cup.
Original Report 12/16 9:00am: The move of the former 97.5 KPHD Elko, NV to the Boise market on 102.7 has caused a chain reaction of moves in the market.
KPHD has signed-on in its new home of Melba, ID with new KZMG call letters in tow. Boise On-Air reports the station has debuted as Hot AC “My 102.7” running commercial free through the end of the year.
KZMG will also get a new owner as JLD Media has agreed to sell the station to FM Idaho for $800,000 and two used Harris HT25CD FM transmitters. In order to fit KZMG into its cluster, FM Idaho will sell News/Talk 99.1 KINF Gooding to Lee Family Broadcasting for $300,000.
In October KINF and sister 100.7 KPDA applied to swap facilities, which was followed up with a call letter swap to keep the existing programming on their previous signals. That swap, which was approved and completed last week set the stage for what will now see the 99.1 KINF facility depart the Boise market.
Lee Family Broadcasting will shift the focus of the station to Twin Falls, where the station has applied to downgrade from a Class C to C1 where it will operate with 35kW at 232 meters.
Following the sales, FM Idaho will operate Sports “ESPN Boise” 730 KNFL, Variety Hits “96.1 Bob-FM” KSRV, Regional Mexican “100.7 La Podersoa” KPDA, Rhythmic CHR “Wild 101.1” KWYD, and KZMG in the Boise market. KINF will join a Lee Family Twin Falls cluster of Spanish Adult Hits “Juan 970” KFTA, News/Talk 1230 KBAR, Classic Country 1400 KART, Hot AC “Hot 100” 99.9 KZDX, Sports “103.1 The Zone” KZNO, and Country “Kat Country 106” KKMV.
