A week after Pamal Broadcasting announced that it would take Talk 920 WGHQ Kingston, NY dark on December 31, the station has found a reprieve.
Pamal will donate the station to Tri State Public Communications’ “Robin Hood Radio“, which will begin operating WGHQ via LMA on January 1. The Kingston Times reports that WGHQ needs around $20,000 in repairs to its transmitter, which will be split between Robin Hood and Kingston Community Radio. KCR, brokers the 7-9am daypart on WGHQ, an arrangement that will remain after Robin Hood assumes control of WGHQ.
Outside of the Kingston Community Radio programming, the transfer of control will see WGHQ’s simulcast of News/Talk “Hudson Valley Talk Radio” 1260 WBNR Beacon/1420 WLNA Peekskill replaced with the NPR programming of Robin Hood Radio’s network of 1020 WHDD Sharon, CT, 88.1 WLHV Annandale-On-Hudson, NY, 91.7 WBSL-FM Sheffield, MA, and 91.9 WHDD-FM Sharon, CT.
