The Atlanta market has quietly gained a third Country station.
Rome Radio Partners has signed on 107.1 W296BB Jonesboro, GA from the tower of Cox’ WSB-TV in downtown Atlanta. Operating with 250 watts at 293.4 meters the translator is rebroadcasting 98.5 WSB-HD3 covering Atlanta and its southern suburbs, with the HD subchannel simulcasting the programming of RRP’s “South 107” WTSH Aragon/Rome which already had a strong signal in Atlanta’s northern suburbs.
Rome Radio Partners Managing Partner Howard Toole told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that “I intend this to be an Atlanta station”. When paired with the translator, WTSH will cover the bulk of the Atlanta metro outside of suburban Gwinnett County.
The move also brings former “Kicks 101.5” WKHX morning host Moby back to the market. His show is syndicated to nine stations in the southeast including WTSH.
WTSH also has a pending application to move its own tower southward towards Atlanta. If granted, the station will increase its coverage in Atlanta’s northern and western suburbs along with retaining coverage in Rome.
