A few weeks after launching Christian AC “Sunny 98.5” K253BQ Jonesboro AR, Saga Communications has launched an identical station in Clarksville TN.
“Sunny 99.1” W256CI Clarksville/107.9 WCVQ-HD2 debuted today with the same programming heard in Jonesboro. Sunny is featuring programming from Salem Media’s Todays Christian Music network including Doug & Jaci Velasquez in mornings and “Night Light with Andrea” in evenings.
The 250 watt translator (or metro signal as Saga President/CEO Ed Christian prefers they be called), was acquired from Edgewater Broadcasting along with the Jonesboro signal in December for $65,000.
They just cut all of the Salem CCM from WJYI in Milwaukee after about 16 years. Maybe this is the reason they are launching these, yet probably not.
FYI this station is not operating. At least not yet.
Was in Clarksville yesterday afternoon, the only signal on 99.1 was a weak WCBL-FM from western Kentucky. The other Clarksville translators (101.9, 100.7) were coming in just fine.
No sign of W256CI at home either, where Clarksville signals bomb in.
For that matter, there’s no HD on WCVQ either.
I wonder if they had trouble with the WCVQ HD & can’t launch the translator until they have the program source working?
