The largest Catholic operator on the west coast has filled the largest gap in its footprint with the addition of a Los Angeles market station.
IHR Educational Broadcasting, which operates the non-commercial Immaculate Heart Radio network has agreed to purchase Gospel/Christian Preaching 1460 KTYM Inglewood for $6 Million. Immaculate Heart owns 19 stations in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and New Mexico including stations in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Diego, and San Francisco.
The group has already launched a page to raise funds for the acquisition. IHR states, “Start-up costs for new stations are funded by local Catholic communities and each station usually becomes fully listener-supported within two years of going on-air. The funding for this new station will be provided by potential listeners from the 289 parishes in the Diocese of Los Angeles and other generous individuals from throughout the Immaculate Heart Radio Network listening area” with $2.4 million of the $6 million purchase price already raised.
