Radio One Communications has flipped Classic Rock “Z104” WMZK Merril, WI/99.1 W256AG Wausau to Hot AC “Magic 104.1“.
The move took place on Tuesday, April 15 at 3:00pm. Positioning itself as “All Hit Radio”, the station gives Wausau a Hot AC for the first time since then 96.7 WLJY flipped to CHR “Hot 96.7” in December 2011. Northpine.com reports that WMZK is operated by Radio One Communications via Time Brokerage Agreement as it awaits approval for its purchase of the station from Quicksilver Broadcasting.
The station is now back to Classic Rock with the “Z104” branding. I’m not sure when the change took place, but it may have been within the past couple of days–as the final Twitter and Facebook activity on the “Magic” accounts was roughly over the weekend.
To quote NorthPine, “it’s not immediately clear who’s operating the stations [WMZK and AM sister WJMT] now.”
