KGY, Inc. is selling Full Service Oldies 1240 KGY Olympia, WA to Sacred Heart Radio for $250,000.
Sacred Heart Radio operates a network of Catholic stations in the northwest including 1050 KBLE Seattle, 970 KTTO Spokane, 88.1 KYTR Union Gap/Yakima, and 88.3 KBKO Kodiak, AK. The addition of KGY will assist KBLE’s coverage in the southern portion of the Seattle/Tacoma market.
KGY, Inc. will retain the programming of KGY on 95.3 K237FR Tumwater via sister 96.9 KYYO-HD2. The company also operates Country “96.9 KAYO Country” KYYO McCleary. KGY and KYYO are most famous for operating from studios on a pier off of Budd Inlet. Last week the stations agreed to a ten year lease extension with the Port of Olympia.
The Olympian reports that the sale will end a 75 year ownership run of the station by the Kerry family. Current owner Nick Kerry’s grandfather Tom Olsen purchased KGY in 1939.
