Update 8/31: Oskie Media has launched both of its new formats in Knoxville.
1180 WVLZ Knoxville has dropped its “Tennessee Sports Radio” format and had flipped to Oldies “Oldies 1180“. Former afternoon host Jayson Swain will remain with the station, but moves to 7-10am starting Monday, September 1.
Sister 1120 WKCE Maryville has returned to the air as Comedy “Funny 1120“.
Original Report 7/21: Oskie Media has announced that “Tennessee Sports Radio” 1180 WVLZ Knoxville will cease operations at 5:00pm on Friday, August 29 as the company prepares to launch two new formats in the market.
WVLZ is currently one of three Sports stations in the market along with Cumulus’ “Sports Animal” 990 WNML Knoxville/99.1 WNML-FM Friendsville and East Tennessee Radio Group rimshot “ESPN 106.3 The Zone” WPFT Pigeon Forge. The AM daytimer currently airs a lineup of local shows mostly dedicated to the University of Tennessee football including a morning show co-hosted by former Tennessee Quarterback Erik Ainge and an afternoon show hosted by former Wide Receiver Jayson Swain.
The new undisclosed format on 1180 will debut on Monday, September 1 at 7:00am with a second format debuting on the currently silent 1120 WKCE Maryville.
