Classic Hits are out and Country “94.1 The Wolf” is in at Entercom’s 94.1 WKQK Germantown/Memphis.
The new younger skewing Country format takes the station into competition with Cumulus’ “Kix 106” WGKX and Mighty Media’s “95.3 The Rebel” WEBL. Entercom is promoting half the amount of commercials as its competitors with a maximum of six per hour. Chris Michaels remains in place as Program Director.
WKQK’s Classic Hits format registered a 3.5 share in the August Nielsen Audio PPM ratings. WGKX was tied for fourth in the market with an 8.0 share, while rimshot WEBL held a 1.3. This is a return of sorts for the station as it was previously New Country “Froggy 94” WOGY from 1992 until 2001.
