Lowe joins WFTK from sister “Rock 100.5” WNNX Atlanta where he was APD/Afternoon Host. Lowe worked at Alternative “99X” for the entire run of the station starting in nights and working up to PD when the brand was relaunched on a translator.

At WFTK Lowe replaces Michael ‘Fin’ Walter who departed in October to manage a local concert venue.

Cumulus announces that it has promoted Axel Lowe to Program Director for WFTK (96 Rock) in Cincinnati. Lowe moves to his new post from Atlanta, where he most recently served Cumulus as Assistant Program Director and Afternoon Drive Personality for Rock 100.5 WNNX. Prior to that, he was Morning Show Host and Program Director of 99X in Atlanta.

Troy Hanson, Corporate Programming/Rock Formats for Cumulus said: “Axel is one of the great minds inside our rock world here at Cumulus and it gives us great pleasure to bestow PD stripes to Axel at 96 Rock in the Queen City. His grasp of where rock is positioned in the industry and where it needs to continue to evolve is in equal parallel to his stellar on-air work. While we continue to recruit the best programming minds in the business, we are most fortunate to have such a strong stable of programmers inside the company to be able to promote from within, as well.”

Lowe said: “I’ve had a great run in Atlanta with 99X and Rock 100.5, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to program 96 Rock and be a part of the air staff. Thanks to John Dickey, Mike McVay and Troy Hanson for believing in me. I’m looking forward to working with Market Manager Dave Crowl and the rest of the great team! Does it get cold in Cincinnati?”
